Overview
Castlebar was built in 1879 for Mr Walter Lazenby, who was a fish sauce Manufacturer & Sprits Merchant. The Lazenby family resided at Castlebar until 1932 and then the house was bought by the national Childrens Adoption Association and the Princess Alice Nursing Training School.
In the 1960s the home became the LCC Care Home and then a Private Nursing Home up until 2021 when Dinardo Care and Supports Ltd. acquired the building.

Castlebar is a large 67-bed unit, in a three-storey detached high status Victorian Villa that is located at the top of Sydenham hill. Opposite Sydenham Hill Nature Reserve (Cox’s Woods) and a ten-minute walk from the Horniman Museum.
Castlebar is medium to high-support unit with highly skilled support staff on duty throughout 24 hours for people who are recovering from a variety of health issues. We can provide short-term respite or long-term accommodation. Each room is fully furnished and is decorated to the highest standard.
